Balis Best Cooking Class caters to people with keen interests in food and culture. Learn to cook famous balinese and indonesian dishes in a relaxed and friendly environment. Small classes (only 2 - 4 people) are conducted in a traditional open kitchen.
Each class starts with a trip to a local market. You’ll get a feel for real bali culture as you experience its rich colors, and unique flavors and smells. Students then prepare a complete 4-course meal for lunch completely using traditional equipment pestle and mortar.

Our Courses are conducted in the morning to take advantage of cooler outdoor temperatues for local market trip, prep and cooking. Markets open early in bali. Food markets are a great way to introduce students to bali culture and lifestyle. Your instructor guide you to the traditional local market and explain traditional herbs and spices and also local culture , local meat, fish, and produce, finding unique ingredients. Touring a traditional outdoor market provides insight both into how bali people approach cooking and how many spend their day.
These lessons are as important as those in the kitchen. Before practical session, the instructor will explain details of every traditional ingredients that will be used for cook. After you are familiar to the ingredients, you will start to cook. Students are taught to cook complete dishes from pestle and mortar, with traditional utensils and techniques, most of the herbs and spices are ground together in a stone mortar before being cooked in a variety of ways. All herbs are fresh picked and whole spices are used rather than preground ones. Aroma is as important as taste in bali cooking. All cooking are hands-on experiences, performed entirely by our students.
